10 Simple Steps on How You Can Create an Effective Vision Board

10 Simple Steps on How You Can Create an Effective Vision Board

Blueprint for Success: How to Create a Goal Oriented Vision Board

How to create a vision board

“If anything is worth doing, do it with all your heart.”

– Buddha

A vision is a timeless seed that will grow and blossom over the course of a lifetime. It is something to be nurtured, protected, and cultivated. A vision is not a destination; it is a journey.

It is the light that guides us through the dark times and the hope that propels us forward. A vision gives life purpose and meaning. It is what makes us unique individuals with something special to offer the world.

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a tool used to help manifest your dreams and goals. The process is simple: create a board with images and words that represent what you want to achieve. Looking at your vision board daily will help to keep you motivated and on track to achieving your goals. Creating a vision board is a fun and easy way to get started on making your dreams a reality.

10 Steps On How To Create Vision Board

1. Setting Intentions

Find a quiet place where we can clear our minds and be in a relaxed manner. Try to jot down goals and what we want to achieve in the next few months.

These goals may be for your health, career or wealth. Whatever goals you set make sure that it is beyond your capacity to do things.

“You should set goals beyond your reach so you always have something to live for.” —Ted Turner

Setting Goals

2. About You

Knowing ourselves is about discovering what makes us tick. It means learning our likes and dislikes, beliefs and values, personality, our personal boundaries and so on. Learning these things will increase our self-awareness. Being more self aware leads to enhanced self-development, acceptance, and proactivity while benefiting our overall mental health. We’ll be more confident, make better decisions, have stronger relationships, and be more honest.

So in step 2 of creating our vision board is the “About You” part.  Here, we need to list down our skills, talents and our best characteristics. This should also include the weaknesses and skills that we want to develop.

3. Three-Month Vision

Having a vision proves to be extremely important. Given the trials and tribulations that may come our way, when we have a clear vision of what we want to happen, we can make better decisions.

Write down things that we want to achieve in different areas of our lives in 3 months. These areas includes:

  • Home family, personal
  • Health, Well-being
  • Friends, Relationships
  • Growth, learning, spiritual,
  • Money and Finances
  • Career business, work

4. Looking Back

Looking back on the past allows us to study the nature of ourselves and helps us recognize why we do what we do. Looking at our past lets us know what we can improve on.

Find the perfect spot for you to think and set the mood with music. Take some time to think about the past years and reflect on what we’ve done or our what ifs. Then you can ask yourself these questions:

  1. What experiences made you happy?
  2. What experiences changed you?
  3. What held you back?
  4. What have you achieved in different parts of your life?
  5. How was your physical and mental health?
  6. How did you build relationships?

Make looking at your past a habitual practice. It will not only help you now, but it will assist you in planning for the future.

5. Think About the Future

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt

Thinking about the future can lead us to generous and fulfilled lives. It gives us an edge and helps us anticipate changes that others might have a hard time spotting.

Now let’s envision our next year. Think about goals and how we will envision it to be. Reflect on the WHY of each goal listed and make sure they are driven with intentions.

6. Making Decisions

Our decisions affect people. Nearly every decision we make will affect different people in one way or another. It’s important to be aware of the influence our decisions will have, and understand what the “human cost” will be. The decisions we make demonstrate our values.

List some decisions that we’re trying to consider. Then list the options, consequences, advantages and disadvantages. This can prevent us from making impulsive decisions and lesser mistakes.

7. My Core Values

Core values are the fundamental beliefs you have about your life. They guide your behaviors, decisions, and actions. They bring about a sense of purpose and self-worth. They remind you what’s important to you and what you want more of in your life.

When you know what’s important to you, you can live in alignment with those values. This leads to greater fulfillment, clarity and self-awareness.

This self-awareness allows you to discover your purpose.

From the given list of core values, circle each core value that resonates with you. Group similar values from the list in any way that makes sense to you. Prioritize and create a maximum of five groups.

8. Find Images and Words for the Vision Board

Go through a stack of magazines, then clip everything you like—colors, words, interesting images. But, we can also hunt for images and words that are related to our goals. If there’s a goal or intention that we can’t find a good image for, hop on the computer and do an image search then print it.

Vision Board

9. Assemble the Vision Board

Now it’s time to arrange our images and words on our poster board.

So, with your poster board, and pile of images at hand, go through the images and decide what belongs on the poster board and place it roughly in the section it will go. Trim backgrounds away or crop images as we go. Then continue through the pile of clippings.

10. Glue or Tape Everything Together

See if you can go deeper with your placement. Are there multiple ways to read an area? Can you see this vision board evolving with you for a the near future? Great. Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, stick it down. Working with one image or word at a time, turn it over, apply a layer of adhesive, then stick it to the poster board or construction paper.

Tip: Save scrap paper and cut up magazines to use as gluing surfaces.

Once we have all of our goals and dreams represented on the board, take a look at it. How does it look?

What are the benefits of having a vision board?

Creates Better Intentions

No matter what you put on your vision board, you must have the intention to achieve it. Having a vision board creates better intentions as you use your vision board to start every day with a focus.

Makes Your Dreams Clear

A vision board is essentially a visual representation of your goals and dreams. This means your dreams are clear and vivid every day as you look at your vision board to keep you moving forward.

Improves Creativity

When you have goals and dreams in life set in place, and provide a visual such as the vision board, creativity is naturally improved as you work to find new ways to achieve these goals and dreams.

Provides Motivation

Let’s face it, some days are hard! That’s why having a vision board is a brilliant idea to provide motivation for those less than stellar days when motivation is lacking.

Boosts Chances of Success

How to be Successful – Develop 3 Key Executive Skills

How to be Successful – Develop 3 Key Executive Skills

The 3C’s have worked to skyrocket professionals in all fields to the top.

Executive-success-skills

Great executives that run a sustainable, scalable and profitable operation share a number of common skills that support their success. Three of the most prized toolkits are what I call the 3C’s of Executive Success – Clarity of Vision, Arrow-like Concentration, and Cognitive Flexibility.

Focus on mastering this trifecta, and you’ll catalyze your growth.

Consider this – you might be a charming salesman at a Fortune 500, or the genius idea guy at your startup, or the woman with unparalleled technical expertise — but your existing attributes will only take you so far.

Why? Because truly successful people — at the top of their fields — have to do a bunch of things at once. They need to inspire and they need to execute. They need to see the big picture and understand how the pieces fit together in everyday operation.

You must wear the roles of many, taking them on and off as the particulars require. And all this must be happening in your head, lightening fast, in order to perform with expertise and ease.

That’s where the 3C’s come in to guide your growth and mastery. Cultivating the 3C’s will not only help you get to the top, but they will help you fulfill the role with grace once you get there.

How to be successful — your 3c roadmap

While there are several traits that round out any leadership success story, these three C’s really do much of the heavy lifting. The reason is simple: other skills will help you get, but in the absence of these, you’ll end up in a survival state — burned out, lacking in internal resources, scrambling — instead of thriving.

Eventually that catches up and you can’t sustain an upward trajectory. In fact, this is how most people flat line in their careers.

How to be Successful #1 – Get Your Clarity

An executive leading a high-performing team must-have clarity of vision.

Clarity is about knowing your: (1) Purpose – the why?; (2) Plan – the how?; and (3) Projection – the what?

(1) Your Purpose is two-fold. First, find and refine the big picture purpose you have. You can explore our 5-step clarity roadmap to help you do that. Then get specific about the purpose of the task or challenge at hand, and how that feeds into the big picture. Do this with all your undertakings to practice the method, and turn it into a habit.

(2) Your Plan is about taking the purpose and transforming it into a step-by-step guide. Of course, you’ll have to amend it as problems arise, but the more detail you put into what this plan looks like, the more likely you won’t get exhausted, lose yourself in a fruitless rabbit hole, or lose sight of what’s next.

(3) Your Projection is the endgame. Be confident you know what it looks like or you won’t know when you’ve reached it. This might be obvious for a client deliverable, but it’s harder when it comes to more complex goals. Even when it comes to your personal life, projections are key.

While clarity of purpose tells you why something matters, clarity of plan gives your team a working roadmap. The projection outlines the endgame.

It’s essential to have clarity of vision for your own goals and especially as a leader of others. Don’t just manage people, keep them motivated, inspired, accountable and excited.

How to be Successful #2 – Harness Concentration Like an Arrow

To give attention to a task at hand and ignore distractions is perhaps the most valuable skill for any professional, and imperative for a leader.

In this fast-paced, tech-fueled world, we are constantly interrupted and distracted. The brain is overstimulated and cognition is fractured each time. A lot of energy and time is wasted getting back on track so start developing your concentration skills now. Don’t wait until you have even more responsibility.

critical-executive-success-skills

We can borrow here from sports psychologists, Kremer and Moran, who highlight the five principles of effective concentration:

  • Concentration is a deliberate choice that requires mental effort. Don’t force it, but choose it.
  • You can only focus on one thing at a time (despite all the multitasking myths).
  • Form a mind-body connection. Even if you’re sitting at a desk and typing, close your eyes. Visualize what you want to achieve. Imagine your head and fingers coordinating to get you there.
  • Forget everything else but the task at hand. Jot down other thoughts or to-do’s but don’t let them compete for attention.
  • During moments of anxiety, redirect your focus to a physical act like breathing or walking for a few minutes.

How to be Successful #3 – Practice Cognitive Flexibility

This is definitely the hardest of the three C’s. Cognitive flexibility is your ability to perceive, think, problem-solve, take action, and engage with others in new and nontraditional ways. It’s a nonlinearity inside your head.

Part of the reason why it’s difficult is because it’s so abstract. What does it mean to do something non-traditionally? How can you think creatively instead of using only direct logic?

Well you get good at it, the more you practice it. A few recommendations:

(1) Be flexible often. If you always do things a certain way, take steps to try new ways. Get a little uncomfortable. You won’t know what you won’t know until you know it.

(2) Use other industries for inspiration: look at someone in a whole different field and imagine how they might solve your problem.

(3) Don’t isolate yourself in belief bubbles. This is the antithesis of making new neural connections, which require as a prerequisite that you learn new things. If you’re in an echo chamber, you’ll own cement what’s already there. This doesn’t bode well for success because eventually you will come across an obstacle that needs out-of-the-box thinking. Additionally, you’ll narrow the pool of people you can learn and engage with to those that already think like you.

CREATING MOMENTUM WITH PRACTICE

Hopefully, it’s clear why cultivating the 3C Executive Skills will accelerate your professional growth and help you lead with ease once you’re at the top. As this becomes part of your mental toolkit, you’ll find that the benefits expand into your personal life as well. Imagine how much faster you would achieve your life goals with the 3C’s skills embedded into the way your brain works. Just practice!

Remember, implementation is the key to making it all work. Your action creates momentum and once you get going, you’ll feel no desire to turn back.

What Is The Law of Attraction and Your 5-Step Power Guide to Apply It

What Is The Law of Attraction and Your 5-Step Power Guide to Apply It

Learn How to Apply the Law of Attraction for Real Life Results by Understanding the Science.

Law-of-attraction-works

“If you want to find the secrets of the world, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” — Nikola Tesla

I start with a quote by one of the greatest scientific minds of the 19th century (and I’d argue throughout history) to show you that the Law of Attraction (LOA), when understood properly, is rooted in science and energy — not in modern self-help. To really understand it, you have to suspend your doubt.

What is the law of attraction – from the mystique to physics

The Law of Attraction, in its most basic form, states that the energy you embody, whether positive or negative, is what you will attract back into your life. Essentially, if you stay focused on the positive — you will attract more of this. If you are down in the dumps, or pessimistic, you will only attract more of this negativity back to you.

Now if you think back to Newton’s 3rd Law, we know that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So you might be thinking — shouldn’t the opposite of what you project be more likely to happen? Yes and No. Yes — somewhere in the Universe, the opposite may be occurring. But No is a much stronger answer. Here’s why:

Newton’s laws were only based on physical actions and reactions. Much later, we discovered thermodynamics, gravity, and quantum mechanics. In quantum theory, we are looking far below tangible matter. We are looking at the subatomic elements or potentials of reality. Here, possibility and probability of a potential outcome is the key. At the subatomic level, energy influences the outcome of physical reality. This is where the Law of Attraction is premised.

To ask yourself what is the law of attraction — you must understand that this quantum or subatomic level is what it’s all about. And we know that Newton’s laws, and even Einstein’s gravity and relativity principles, aren’t the laws of the land here. Rather, ‘strange’ phenomenon that we can’t always wrap our heads around govern. For instance, Entanglement and the Observer Effect are both quantum principles. Entanglement describes a permanent connection between subatomic matter that far outlasts its physical or observable relationship. The Observer Effect tells us that a potential outcome is affected by the Observer of the phenomenon.

So in the quantum realm — where all energy is the director and precursor of matter — the Law of Attraction makes much more sense. We can create into physical reality that which we think, feel, and visualize. Hopefully, this scientific grounding makes it easier to see why this law isn’t fluff, and that it has value to offer us when we practice it with intention and credence. Now let’s talk about how to do that.

What is the law of attraction – the universal principles

The law of attraction is broken down into three simple principles. Learn and reflect on them first, before you go on to implement the 5-Step guide. The reason for this is that for the Law to work, you must understand these so well that you can move on into the ’embodiment’ — this is where the action happens. You need to be proficient in the principles to embody them in the deeper layers of the mind, particularly your subconscious mind. That is the only way for LOA to work in your life. Let’s take a look at these universal principles:

LOA Principle #1: Like Attracts Like

When you are working with the Law, you’re not in the opposites attract space. In this quantum possibility layer — the vibration signal you create attracts a similar vibration in return. All thoughts, feelings, perceptions, attitudes create these vibration signals. So remember, a positive mindset and beliefs will attract the same positivity.

In sum, positive thinking attracts positive and desirable experiences in life; negative thinking attracts negative experiences.

LOA Principle #2 – Nature Abhors a Vacuum

We know it’s important to remove mental clutter, cognitive dissonance, and discordant beliefs to make space for better things. Similarly, when you remove negativity from your life, you make space for more positive things. It’s important to fill the void in your mind with positivity immediately. That’s how the law of attraction works. Otherwise you will revert.

LOA Principle #3 – The Present is Always Perfect as Is

This one is so critical! You must leave the past behind. Everything that has happened until now is perfect as is.

Even if there was pain, suffering, loss, disappointment, heartache — we must let it go. We not only let it go, but we realize all of it brought us to this moment. This moment is perfect. It is in this present that you realize, you are exactly where you need to be to create your brightest future and attract the very best.

Apply the law of attraction: Your 5-Step Power Guide

As the age-old adage informs us, “where attention flows, energy goes.”  This is how you create or manifest your own reality — by focusing on the things you want to attract in your life. When you wholeheartedly concentrate your attention on what you desire, your energy and vibratory signature will bring it to you.

Besides these LOA benefits, these tips will also work to revitalize your mindset and attitude. Even if you’re still skeptical about the Law itself, you’ll sow the seeds for benefits in your brain and life.

To start attracting what you really want, make sure you practice these techniques daily. So start by setting aside the time to practice the law of attraction. And remember to learn and embody the foundational beliefs to making the Law work first.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction Step #1 – Accept LOA as Principles of Energy

Again, for the Law to work fully, you must believe that it is a vital, fundamental principle of energy mechanics at play. You must believe that you have Power. This is what it means to be empowered. If you think that your mind has little impact, then you will marginalize and sabotage yourself before you even get started with the Law.

A simple way to start is with one day – the day in front of you – in mind. In the morning, start by intentionally visualizing how you want your day to unfold. Build a clear image of the hours of your day and see yourself accomplishing key tasks. Imagine yourself happy, fulfilled and strong while you are doing it.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction Step #2 – Set Daily Priorities, Stay Focused

This can be applied on the micro scale of a day and with big-picture goals. Always write down what you hope to achieve – it will help you stay clear about the internal thoughts you have. Even if you think the task is small and not highly ambitious, if it adds value to your day, write it down.

If you want to hit your goals on time, successfully, write them down and create a clear thought signature.

what-is-law-of-attraction

How to Apply the Law of Attraction Step #3 – Get into Positive Vibratory States Often

Feeling tones are powerful influences on our thoughts, and in turn the vibrations we project out. So you have to stay in a positive vibratory state as often as possible. It’s impossible all the time — we’re bound to have a few lows — but revert back to a higher state as fast as authentically possible.

Think about all the good things in your life. Think about everything you’ve already managed to do and accomplish.

Don’t focus on that endless to-do list. Don’t dampen your success by thinking that it’s small or inconsequential compared to the work that remains. Don’t compare yourself to others who are already “there.”

This is why gratitude is such a key practice. When we dip into the pool of gratitude, acknowledging even the small and simple things, we automatically resonate at a higher energetic level.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction Step #4 – Visualize the Big Picture with Physical Representations

Get creative and prepare a dream board. This should contain images and words that represent your life goals. The act of preparing it and seeing it will help you create this reality in your mind’s eye. As you visualize, you will set out the vibrations for this perception to become physical reality — the reality of your future.

It is also a visual aid that reminds you of what’s at stake and all that is possible. Leave it out in the open and refer to it often, particularly early on in your LOA practice.

Use it to set your intentions.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction Step #5 – Reaffirm the ‘Small’ Victories

In the evening, take a moment to reflect on your day. If you would like to share it with your family at the dinner table, tell them what you have managed to achieve through the day and what you loved the most. This process acts like reaffirmation.

It also brings you back to a high mental state where LOA is ripe for action. Especially in the evening, or right before bed — this is a potent time for you to access the subconscious realm with your intentions, energy, and desires for the future.

CREATING MOMENTUM WITH PRACTICE

When you combine the 3 foundational principles with our 5-step power guide, you’re sure to see results. If you have doubts, look into quantum physics. Look at other people who stand by how the law has worked for them. Even consider times when you “psyched” yourself up into doing something well and it worked.

Always remember to put embody positive energy authentically. Gratitude, mindfulness, and reflection are vital to attracting success in your life. The truth of the matter is that the law of attraction works when you work it.

Remember, right there is the key to making it all work. Your implementation — your action. Once you get going, you’ll feel no desire to turn back.
